MC is searching for his wife, she was either kidnaped or left on her own. The story was fairly recent. Not sure if it was completed. MC may be a bounty hunter.

Did you check woodmanone's stories? Not that I recognise this particular description.
Happyhugo's Coming Home to La Petite Valley vaguely matches.
Do you remember anything more, because there's a few stories where something like this happens in it. Is the search a short one or a long one? Either answer cuts out a few stories. Any character names or locales? Was there other family members heavily involved in the story? Any more details will help find it.
I think the MC was injured and rescued by an Indian tribe, obtaining a wife in the process.

Part 2of3 in the story of Alex from "I Fell Through"
From the description I'd normally put my money on it being a story by one of these three:
https://storiesonline.net/a/aubie56
https://storiesonline.net/a/jryter
https://storiesonline.net/a/woodmanone
But, for some odd reason I suspect it's one of these 2 stories:
https://storiesonline.net/s/13765/community-service
https://storiesonline.net/s/16029/community-service-the-prequel
either way, they're both good reads.
I'm pretty sure I've read the story you want in the last 18 months, and out of the westerns posted in the last 2 years they're either written by the first 3 authors, the two above or one of these three:
https://storiesonline.net/s/14458/cowboy
https://storiesonline.net/s/14111/run-away
https://storiesonline.net/s/13298/the-long-ride-to-destiny
The above is based on a category search sorted by date and checked for those marked as having been read by me, then stopped looking at those over 2 years old. At worst you now have some more good stories to read.
I think its one of "Old Man with a Pen"s stories.

Most likely this one:
https://storiesonline.net/s/16951/hairy-roadtrip
I think it's a time-travel wizardry sort of story. I remember the sequence. A guy is the last of his lineage. His grandfather sends him through some sort of portal to the early 1800s. The Indian chief is also a wizard (perhaps Merlin's brother?).
Shit, I read it. I liked it. And now I can't think of it.
Of course, we can't discount the fact that I might be completely full of crap about what the OP was looking for.
Edit: Toman of the Cherokee by Pars001.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I have found several stories that I plan to read in the future. The story I was looking for is Rocky Racoon by qhml1. He posted to his blog about trying to finish up the story.
That one by Pars might fit now, but the original post appeared 2 days before the story did...

Well, it IS a time-travel story.
While this was not the story I originally asked about, I did just read it. As usual Pars did a great job! I did finally find the story I was looking for.
I did finally find the story I was looking for.
Don't keep us in suspense... What was it?
Here ya go Cap...

The date and time are only relevant if you, Capt Zapp and jonjon2011b are in the same time zone.
The timestamp for jonjon2011b's post appear to me as 3/26/2018, 3:00:38 AM ;)
AJ
I don't know how to include jonjon's post with the title of the story so I just copied and pasted his post, then bolded the title for cap as he wanted to know.
No idea why you bring up the date and time???
No idea why you bring up the date and time???
Because you copied and pasted the date and time of jonjon2011b's post as displayed to you, which might be different to that displayed to Capt Zapp, just as it is different to that displayed to me.
AJ
yeah ok whatever. it had nothing to do with why i posted the info for capt zapp. He asked for the title,,,
