Not quite the normal do-over/timetravel story.

I vaguely recall reading a do-over/time travel type series of stories with an interesting premise.

The male main character would go back in time, but not to his direct past/body and live a parallel life up to a point. Once it made it to that point, he was able to go back and do another parallel life in the same universe. I think there were 2-3 or maybe more stories in the series. From what I recall I think his significant other/wife/GF was able to also go back with him as of the 2nd or 3rd story.

I also recall in the last story he met or realized one of the other characters was also able to do this and was watching what he would do. Or something along those lines.

Been poking around the net for a few months and just cannot recall/find it. Any help?

Unfortunately those aren't the stories I'm looking for. Took a read through them.

I think these were all set in close to modern time and the MC did not become aware of the watcher until towards the very end of the first or second story.

I thought about "Second Chance" by Number 7 with multible do-overs, but until Book 5 Chapter 25 (where I stopped reading) there was no watcher.
The autor is now within Book 13.

Made it to book 7 and it's definitely not it. Oh well. Looks like the search continues.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the main character became aware of the 'watcher' until the end of book 3 or so. Also I'm vaguely recalling maybe his wife/gf/etc was also able to recycle through after the 2nd book.

Maybe the stories you are looking for is the 'My Girls' series by unknown1000u2

Just my opinion but the description doesn't even come close to what the whole series is about.

My Girls โ€” a series by unknown1000u2

Amy and Cindi are 14 years old, twin sisters, and cheerleaders. They are very close to each other. Sometimes, they almost seem to be able to read each others minds, but hey, that's the way twins are, right? They have no idea how wrong they are! Their parents, Patrick and Victoria, are really neat, as parents go. Almost not embarrassing at all. They seem to have secrets, but hey, all parents do, don't they? The girls have no idea how wrong they are about that either! Enjoy the fun, tears and surprises. Oh, and by the way, what's up with all these twins, and why are they all girls?

Too right. Looking at the desription, having read the stories, it is accurate, as far as it goes, but there is so much more to what is said than appears on the surface.

It's a great set of stories and could be the one the OP was looking for.

Nope. I don't think that's it.

I have read that before.

I may need to go back and re-read it to be sure though.

There is a "western" where the MC shelters in a cave in a storm and emerges from the other end back in the 1800's. I don't remember the detail but he married and was forced / chose to move westwards and shack up with a second woman. He seems to have died and woke up in his modern body but with memories of his ancestor character.

The story ends that his daughter (after his death) was trying to answer an enquiry about the family tree and found that just about every male including her father was christened with the same names.

Perhaps the last sentence at least will allow someone to give an author / story name

Probably not the story you are thinking of, but Gate by Volentrin has some of these elements.

No, you are right. I spent a long time last night looking for the story but without success. However I did find MattHHelm's Somewhere in Time - A Road less Travelled which goes part way towards what he is looking for and IMHO is worth reading.

Definitely a good story and well worth the time to read it. Nothing like a little reminder. Probably time for me to read it again.

Yes and it adds 63 chapters to the 160 chapters* queued up to be read. Chapter 1 of one of those is ten pages!

What did I just write about not having enough months? Apart from those I only have 26 other stories on my favs list plus a shorted shed to sort out.

Possibly. I may have to go back and actually re-read it. I started to a few months ago but didn't make it past the first few chapters before I was distracted.

@sejintenej

The time travel from what I recall never made it back to the 1800's. It was all in the 1900's and maybe all within his original lifetime. Maybe someone will chime in with the name of what your describing though.

@assassin10000

It might pay you to do a dead tree search. I read a book about 20 years ago that was exactly the same scenario.

docholladay ๐Ÿšซ

One good time travel/western that will probably never be finished since the writer is dead is: Finding Peace by Celtic Cowboy. He had a few good stories in my opinion that are well worth reading even the unfinished ones.

https://storiesonline.net/s/53996/finding-peace
https://storiesonline.net/a/Celtic_Cowboy

At least one of the unfinished is because it looked like he had started combining related stories into one main story. Which made it into an unfinished because I think he had more he was going to include into it, just his time ran out.

This really sounds like Redtail, from Aroslav.

my girls is great. Did the author ever start/finish the 4th story?

gwydioncomyn ๐Ÿšซ

Guyver2010 already posted the answer... it's the Faster Than Light series... https://storiesonline.net/universe/252/faster-than-light by Timm... There are 6 stories in the series.. don't know why the shannonq story is listed..

Similar but it's only one story and I specifically remember a series. That and I recall Methuselah Complex, and it's not what I was looking for.

@assassin10000

huh... that series matches every point that you brought up... the main character does go back in time to another body... his girlfriend does go back, and "Woe" is watching what he does.... if it's not that series, then I have no idea... *shrug*

ArthurSB73 ๐Ÿšซ

Reminds me of Methuselah Complex by FantasyLover
Description: Jacob Greene is given the gift of the Methuselah Complex by his Uncle. With it, when Jacob dies, he takes over the body of a different young man who just died, and who was born near the time Jacob reached puberty. Jacob learns things about the power of the Methuselah Complex that his Uncle hadn't figured out, things that makes his new life much more rewarding.
