What I found amusing later in the story is that she claimed that her phone call should have started a dialogue, while his perspective was that she'd said all that needed to be said. Frankly, I'm with Dexter; if I was told by my wife that she wanted a divorce, I'd assume that the time for talking was way past.
It there were a sequel, perhaps the main character would be named Sinister instead of Dexter. He would be a lawyer or politician instead of an engineer. The same day he would get hired and a text from someone who wants to marry him.
