Main characters wife disappears. Police suspect he killed her and harass him endlessly; among other things, they dig up his yard. News coverage basically calls him a murderer.

Years pass. He divorces his wife for abandonment and tries dating, which is hard because of his reputation. Eventually he finds someone who will marry him.

On the eve of the wedding, his wife shows up. She expects to be able to go back to being his wife as if she'd never left.

Story is set in the UK. Don't know when it was posted, but I probably read it within the last 5 years here or on lit.

Sounds like a mix of Wanderer/Denham stories. In Taking the Long Shot the wife disappears, the police think he killed her and try everything to get him to confess, including a smear campaign in the press, and having him "identify" any unknown female body they find. We find the MC drunk in a bar and eventually find that she was alive with amnesia/fugue state. The second part, new wife, sounds familiar but nothing is popping up except that it sounds like Wanderer/Denham
