Read this story years ago. I do not recall how the man and girl met, but I think I remember them buying modern lght-weight camping equipment, then beginning to hike from northeast (Maine?)toward the west, not far south of Canadian border. IIRC, something happened that moved them back in time - but I do not recall what happened or where in the past they landed.

Sometimes a deceased author will have made plans with a friend, child, or spouse to keep logging into his account to keep their stories on the free side.
IIRC, there were premier stories, but only by special arrangement. Making stories premier after the author stops visiting is a newer policy.
Yes, and if I cared that much I'd go through ancient Forum entries (in particular, the announcements) to see when it was introduced. I'm pretty sure it was after 2009.
Not sure where I got that date from. I maintain my own collections of downloaded stories and usually annotate an author's folder with a date of death (or retirement) only when I see some notification about it. In this case I had annotated that year to his folder but I cannot honestly remember where the information came from. We are talking about 16 years ago, and my memory is sometimes more like a sieve these days! Apologies if it was incorrect.
It's not quite the third. By internal chronology, it parallel with the first one Wagons Ho!.

I haven't been able to write anything for over a year. I seem to have lost the ability to concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes at a time. Maybe someday it will come back. Maybe not.
As to my health, I have been in the hospital four times in the last four months. The last time was when I collapsed at home. It was discovered that I was anemic from blood loss. They never did find where I am losing blood, but a tranfusion helped get me on my feet again. They say it's probably due to the fact that I am on three blood thinners (Warfarin, Plavix, and Asperin).

And that may be why I annotated him as deceased, possibly a few years later, as there was nothing after that last blog post in late 2009. He'd been putting stuff out reasonably regularly before basically stopping in 2008. I'd love to think he's alive and kicking, but suspect otherwise. :(
