The main character is a man who finds himself in the past just prior to the Civil War and becomes the owner of a plantation and with his knowledge of the coming events leads the inhabitants out west to escape the coming problems.

Winds is the story - it was pulled when the author H2O wanted to get it published, but hasn't been seen anywhere since.
This comes up on a regular basis with people looking for it.
There are several copies floating around. Maybe one of those that have a copy could send one to you if you ask nice.
Thanks everyone, that was it, what a shame. I would love to get to read the completed story.

If you find someone with a copy, try sending them a comment or feedback if they are a writer. ;)

My understanding is the story was originally written in 4 major parts, and when it was pulled part 4 wasn't finished. I've not heard of anyone who has a finished version, but some people have copies of what was posted before it was pulled.
To support Ernest's comment, and just for general information - bear in mind this was submitted in 2008 - this is what was written at the start of the second book. I have no knowledge if book 3 was ever submitted:
2. If you are new to my novels WINDS, help yourself by reading WINDS before you try to understand what is happening in WINDS: The Way West. I am planning on a Winds III and a Winds IV. The key word is PLANNING. I am spending way to much time on these big novels and ignoring several other projects.
The last words I have are 'can we go home now?' Does anybody have anything past that?

That's the same thing I have. Book II Chapter 63: Winds of Hell
I would be interested if anyone has anything beyond that as well.

That is the end of the first book. I believe that a sequel was planned, but I'm not sure if it was ever written. The author was apparently intending to sell both books once the second was written, which is why the first disappeared from SOL.
To make it clear that this is the planned end of the book, here's how it looks in the version that I have:
Beau, can we go home now?"

Maybe not the most satisfying end, but clearly an ending.
Yes, the two were combined when he edited and reposted it, and the combined version ends on a later story date. The original version (Winds: The Way West) ends with the gravestone inscription, but the story date is about a week earlier.

Thank you for your response. Will the revised versions be posted on SOL in the future?
