The Richard Jackson Saga
Many thanks for that but no.
I had read and enjoyed that one but the one I am looking for is just one school summer holiday and almost all was set virtually away from home.
Do you remember anything else about the story? Book one of the saga checks all the points you said so far and ends at the end of the summer just before school.

Apologies. TGhe story I was looking for actually takes up the first part of The Richard Jackson Saga and I suspecvt that at the time I did not continue. I think it was later that I read the rest as a separate story.
I just went in now and picked a chapter which I recognised (he spotted the man watching the Air Force station) without realising that it was the same person.
Ergo you were correct, apologies and thanks again.
Before Banadin removed his Richard Jackson Saga from SOL, there were originally four separate stories (which I downloaded back then from finestories):
"My Summer Vacation 1958"
"Ninth Grade 1958-1959"
"Summer Vacation 1959"
"Tenth Grade 1959"
He then merged the first two into one story.
When he decided to sell the Richard Jackson Saga on the big river, he removed the stories from SOL, re-chaptered them into smaller chapters and made seven books out of the
existing text. So his Book 8 "Oxford University" is the immediate sequel to "Tenth Grade 1959".
He finally reposted the first three "new" books here on SOL โ less than half of what was originally available here.
HM.

Actually, I don't think K Pelle, published here as dotB, has moved any stories away from SOL. He has published additional stories elsewhere, mostly on his own site, grynenbayritpublications.
Alas, no updates from him in years.
Some dotB stories were subsequently copied to GrinAndBearIt publications (I think he re-edited them first) but I don't think he deleted any of them from here.
He did delete everything from GMW's site after an argument with someone he considered to be GMW under another 'nym turned toxic. GMW's politics were "Tea Party" at the time and this other 'nym was behaving as a TP attack-dog. I only remember two unique stories on that site and one of them made it to GrinAndBearIt - it was Huntsman's Omen and is also incomplete.
Many years ago - in his Yahoo Group - he indicated that he had also posted stories under another 'nym (this was before he created his own site) but never said what that 'nym was. I'm also interested in something "in the same style", especially if the dates match.
I believe he did delete one early story. I think he had a story titled N.E.Ting. MC's company would take on almost any project they thought they could make a profit on. Most of the public didn't catch the pun in the name and thought it was a Chinese company.
He deleted four (I think) stories early on, having sold them to someone. One of those four was Short Fuse, back then the stories will have been on AssTr (where I read them) and maybe SOL.
Whoever he sold them to did nothing with them and after a few years he was free to post them himself again, Short Fuse then appeared on GrinAndBearIt. If you say N E Ting was one of the four I'll believe you, I knew the title but never read the story.
