Earlier today I read some author blogs about the new character age policy and various comments and blog posts about it. I had to go run some errands and when I got home I wanted to check something about the change. But now the site announcement is missing and so are the blog posts by various authors. What's up?

OK, I was wondering how this would affect books already purchased on Bookapy? I've depended on the Bookshelf feature there for backups but are they still going to be there?
The stories with characters under 18 having sex will eventually either be edited or removed from Bookapy as well.

Bookapy is a different issue.
Since nothing is publicly available without purchase, then nothing will get deleted without a specific complaint. Even then, it will simply be removed from sale and your copy is safe. Nothing is getting deleted from the bookshelf at Bookapy.

I'm currently revising "Conflicted Nun" to change the 16-yo high school girl to simply be a high school girl with no age to conform to SOL's new rules. The assumption would be that she's an 18-yo senior.
"Conflicted Nun" is also available on Bookapy with the "Extreme content" setting because of the 16-yo character. When I finish revising the story, I was going to repost it on SOL AND upload the revised version on Bookapy and remove the "Extreme content" warning.

I may do it anyway, not wanting to maintain two versions, but I'd like to know if I have to.
Technically, given the old settings, 16-years-old did NOT qualify for the "Extreme" label (those were typically snuff or gay content, which already had their own tags), so it was for any unspecified Extreme subjects (ex: pulling teeth, ripping out fingernails or cutting the tongues out of snitches).

I was talking about Bookapy, not SOL. No tags on Bookapy.
There's a field where you define the age of the reader audience, like "any" or "over 13" or "over 17" or "Extreme." The last is used when a character having sex in the novel is under 18 (the minimum age for a character having sex on Bookapy is 16).
So even if the content in the story isn't extreme, if the character is 16 then "Extreme" must be used. A romantic love story between a 16-yo girl and 17-yo boy is extreme in that field on Bookapy. Nothing to do with the content.
