Okay, this is one from a while ago, it may even have been a 'no sex' story, but the set up was a male British spy, a little like Ninjack from the comics, who rescues a young woman and...that's all I've got other than a gruesome detail of how, when someone attacked his home (a farm) and got themselves killed, they were dropped in the pig pen/septic tank.
Anyone know what this was?

This sounds familiar, could it be an Ernest Bywater story?
Maybe Finding Home or Eds New Life? Oh and specifically the rewrites/updates of any of his stories as he skewed the characters ages older due to Australian laws changing.
That's another thing I should point out too is that his stories are very Australia centric as that's where he lived (as far as I can tell) but for whatever reason I keep forgetting that or confusing it for other locations even though some stories have characters leave to other English speaking countries while maintaining strong connections to their homeland so maybe you did too?
I've only read a couple of his stories so you are probably right but could also be wrong too as if I'm not mistaken he took over another authors stories which I think was from the US so that could account for those stories set in the US by default 😆.
I was mainly referring to a few stories where he had an Australian character that moved to the US, generally as a kid. At least one seemed be be primarily so that he had an excuse to get in firefighter along the US/Mexico border.
I don't think it's Ernest's work. I only remember one series with sword and it didn't have either a pig farm or septic systems - except maybe in Crossroads.
There were at least two stories with pigs one was by cmsix, but with no swords, the other is escaping me.
On a different note I remember a true crime where a body was found on top of the crud in a septic tank decently preserved for years still identifiable.
And I found it. Moghal's Light and Dark. Chapter 3 has the septic tank moment I remembered. Another one to read once I get through my backlog.
Thanks for the suggestion about Ernest Bywater's stuff, it looks like something to check out in the future.
