and arrives just in time to save the woman he loves from having her kid stolen for adoption by an ex. I think that she gave him a dragon ring to wear before he went off to basic.

I'm not familiar with the story but it sounds like something Writer Mick might have written - he's cruel to his protagonists who do military service.

Feel like a right numpty as I'm currently reading another Lubrican story at the moment.
I always seem to remember Lubrican for the "Uncle Bob" series only!
