The main character is and author and telling how he writes his stories. As he is writing Romances his pseudonym is that of a woman. He only writes series and they are similar plots set in different locals. A crazy man becomes obsessed with the writer thinking that his stories are influencing others.

Glen Wiseman by Lazlo Zalezac is probably not the one you want, as there is no detail of the romances given, the crazy man is obsessed not by the MC but by his guests that publish an internet magazine, and if you'd read it you'd probably remember Red, Blue and The Kid (the MC's Guests).
Vague memory - isn't the story itself a romance, with the protagonist revealing his secret to the woman he falls for?

The crazy starts killing people, and the investigators take a while to piece together who he's after.
They find out who's he's after & where is lives, but the target is away, and his kids/ one of his kids & his girlfriend are at their house & it all comes to a head there?
If that's it, i thought i had it in my favourites, but for the life of me can't find it or remember the author (or the name of the story).
Edit- and once i posted this, sharkjcw's post came up- and that's the story i'm thinking of.
