Lost space story. swarm cycle?

I cant remember much of the story but I recall it has some similarities with Arkadia by Sunseeker.

As I recall the mc (human) either starts with or soon gets one or more planets & has advanced tech.

He comes across a space battle ground near a planet & finds a few survivors on one of the ships (not humans).

At times he travels between earth & his own planet.
Earth forces want to get hold of his tech & perhaps his planet. Earth ends up sending a fleet of spaceships to attack/takeover his planet etc. After he warns them not to approach he proves how advanced his ship/tech is & the Earth fleet retreats.

I know it is not a lot to go on but hopefullyt it triggers a title in someones memory.

dayum! It sounds like a few I have read but I don't have the foggiest memory of titles. So I looking forward to finding out what story it is and reading it...or re-reading it if the case may be!

I thought the story you're looking for might be a Ka Hmnd story but none of his "synopses" rang a bell for me...

Hopin someone comes up with it as I'd like to read it too! :D

The basic plot does not sound like Swarm, i.e. advanced tech over earth, new aliens etc. Some things do strike a bell, but dimly. Hows that for a mixed metaphor. Let me think on this.

Thats why I put the question mark after swarm I just dont know.
I have a very dim memory he was protecting his planet from other aliens as well.

Sounds like Volentrin's three short stories: The Misty, Cyborg, and Longreach (unfinished).

I can remember a story with quite a few similarities.

The no-longer-human protagonist builds an alliance of various alien races to take on the really bad evil aliens, based on what remains of a damaged space station. I believe he returns to Earth to recruit his sister. He may have been saved originally after a caving accident by the AI of an underground spaceship.

I can't find the story, so I hope the above jogs someone else's memory enough for them to identify it.

ETA - could it be Accidental Commander by TonyG?

I think I remember the one you are talking about but draw a blank on the title...will check my history and a couple other places. Mentioning the cave and sister triggered my remembering...

I found something weird when I was searching. One of the results was 'A Soldier for all Seasons' by RobWilsonWriting. But when I clicked on it, I got a screen with the message 'Not Allowed'.

Lol I hope it's not! Iirc for some reason I cannot think of at the moment I stopped reading it. May have to give it another try though! I remember mc going for his sister and seeing his ex gf that he can't stand? Don't remember earth fleet going after him though...or even earth having a fleet...

I seem to recall another 'found spaceship' story I read at about the same time - Blazing Star by GreyOldWolf. I can't remember the details though :-(

Iirc mc is retired IT guy, buys a property in southern alberta and it contacted by the ship/AI,and they proceed to repair the ship, recruit personnel, etc etc...saves US Navy pers when their aircraft carrier? starts sinking...has Canadian, US, Brit leaders on his side...lots more to the story as well...27 chapters...

Well the one that I remember with the MC having a caving accident and being saved by the Artifical Intelligence from an underground space ship is:
