Thanks, I guess I had a good link then but it was removed. Shame - I enjoyed the story.

That's a shame.
I notice Crescent, the second story in the series, has been removed as well.

The last blog post by the author was in Dec 2015, and it was about re-doing Houseboat, posting Crescent shortly, and the 3rd story was in progress.

I personally think the trick to re-doing a story is to leave the original posted until the reworked story is finished. Then either replace the original or place it as a revision. I have seen both methods used with different results. With a blog notice fans could save the original version if desired as well.

That's what happened.
I re-read the story earlier this year, and thought it was different to the one I remembered reading, and at the end of the story the author had posted that he had reworked it.
Even then, there was no mention of pulling the stories (and looking at the date it was removed, it must have been not long after i'd just re-read it).

I wonder if he intends to publish via Amazon etc. and that is the reason for the removal.

That was my thinking. I did a quick search & couldn't find anything under the titles or authors' name used here.

If he's doing that he probably is using his real name, so he may change the titles. Can you remember the names of the main characters, locations or the boat - if they're unique enough they may show up in a search.

I don't think the MC ever used a name, or if he did it wasn't often enough to notice.
The location was Seattle, the dog was called Blackjack, but referred to as BJ and the main female lead was a nurse called Sharon. A close friend of the MC was called Scott.
Hope that is of some help to anyone who checks.

It's also not uncommon for someone to begin a project (either a rewrite or publishing a book) before their health fails and they drop from sight.

Since he posted the notice in 2015, and nothing has shown up on Amazon since then--including any notices for his loyal fans--I'd question whether any were coming. Which is another reason for not deleting a story on SOL until the new story is completed (and, potentially, published).
