The story is about the guy going to prison, finds an old man that takes him under his wing. The old man is like an Italian mob boss. He finally gets out of prison because a hacker who found his sentence to be really fishy. I think it was a set up by two women who wanted to be famous so they faked their murder in a car in the parking lot the main character worked at as a teen. It was pushed by a corrupted governor that wanted to get reelected. Anyways, he's really jaded after his release, with he settlement money he buys secluded land just for him and his dog. Other notable character is an old man who loves on the land he bought, I think his name is Gil and he's really into gold or searching for gold. There is the lawyer, he is slowly being acclimated by the help of his lawyer and his wife, who's asian. Two women who trespass his land to go skinny dip, I think they're lesbians or bisexual. There's the daughter of the mob boss who he helps as the last wish of his father figure in prison but she disappeared after the first book to go back to her family. There's another women who he ends up adopting...or the likes after he save her from an abusive boyfriend and now that women is learning self defense and become an expert fighter in a weird short amount of time. Damn that's all I got...there's a coup or insurrection I think...the old governor is trying to overtake the new governor with the help of this criminal empire and his crooked cop. This part I'm not too sure about the story gets kinda convoluted and weird if my memory serves right.
Thanks for any input. For some reason it's killing me that I can't remember and just want closure with finishing this story that slowly got on my nerves the more I read it.
