Story about a guy inheriting a house and discovers that elves are living in the basement. Helps them get food and supplies to live off of until they can build a ship to go home.
I remember this story… but not the author or title. The elves were being poisoned by the environmental damage caused by humans and could only go out of the house and cave that was connected to the basement for a limited time. The guy with help from a few of the elves created a web site/mailing list that describe their predicament as a fictional piece and then leveraged it to find like minded individuals to populate a new planet. If I recall correctly, they weren't building a new ship but waiting for a third race's (some sort of bug?) space ship that would taken them on one way trip to a new unspoiled planet where they could live without being constrained.
That's it. I think there was a game warden trying to catch him poaching deer because the elves were hunting at night with bows to supplement their food?
sounds interesting... gonna keep an eye on this topic in the hope that someone is able to supply the author/title. Sounds like something I'd like to read.
Blah it bugged me enough that I had to find it… besides I wanted to read it again myself….. the main character is Jesse…
