It was something like My Four Girlfriends by CJ McCormick. I can't find it on SOL (or for the matter of fact, anywhere) now.
That feels like exactly the sort of thing they'd make you promise not to do in your employment contract.
Yeah I remember I read this when it started but dropped off at some point between updates.
If I remember correctly he did it mainly based on scuttle butt from a fellow employee that some in the company were doing human cloning illegally so decided to get his own done before it was found out and shut down.
Also I think the author had all his stuff taken down and deleted his account for some personal reason. Shame too as I really liked some of his stories and didn't get to finish them all before he erased them.
When did he delete everything?

It started out with fantastic potential and the first 5 to 7-ish chapters were excellent, but he was posting as he wrote and he hit a chapter that derailed the story and it never really recovered. That's the problem with posting as you go. There's no scrapping the chapter and starting over. I'd love to take the first several chapters then write an alternate middle and ending.

I've seen at least one author here trying it. He removed some chapters and then posted new ones with serious changes in it. Very frustrating and irritating for the reader.
I stopped reading his story and decided to wait for conclusion. Last time I looked there were about ten more chapters availably, but it had the dreaded yellow message, he apparently has abandoned the story.

Are you talking about "Maquis"? I'm not sure that the author - starfiend - is still around.
