Lost ice skating romance

redthumb ๐Ÿšซ

FMC was a pairs ice skater. For some reason she lost her partner. MMC was a hockey player who tried out and became her partner. The early problems with him was he kept falling. The problem was the difference in the way the skates were made. Until he got used to the difference, she would say, "Toe picks."

I enjoyed it but can't find it. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry not it. I've never heard of the movie. Thanks for the replay anyway.

Are you sure, it even has the girl laughing at the hockey player and saying "toe pick" when he stumbles

you might not have heard of it but you sure described it to a T! Right down to the saying "toe pick!"

So it's either that film or a story (hopefully here) based on the film.

Or a story that shamelessly rips off the film but doesn't acknowledge it in any way, which would explain the OP's confusion.

Sounds like the plot of the first Cutting Edge movie.

Not your story but this one is good https://storiesonline.net/s/40266/the-perfect-six by https://storiesonline.net/a/Don_Lockwood

I'm pretty sure I've seen your story here. I'll keep looking.

While DoAL is a great story it's not the one requested. No hockey player, both characters are still in high school at the start of the story and they don't start figure skating right away.

I'm pretty sure I remember the story from here but the search on this site is not the greatest. ๐Ÿค”

I'm not sure this site needs a better search - standard search engines can also be used, you just have to add site:storiesonline.net to the search. You may have to deactivate "safe search" though.

But what can Google see? Without an account (or a special access feature), it can only see the first little bit of each story. And without premier access, it can't index premier story text.

I believe Google (and the other search engines) get to bypass those controls, that being the way our lord and webmaster has configured the site.
To test my theory I looked for "cashda" on this site (all of cmsix's stories are premier only) and came up with 19 hits from various chapters of the story which uses the word.
It is not 100% reliable though, looking for "Oonagh" only came up with one match (from QM's "Mage") although another of his stories also has her as a significant character referenced all over the place.

No. Google and other bots get to see exactly what a non-logged in user gets. No special allowances for search engines.

I'm not sure if it's just a premiere feature but at the very bottom of the advanced search you can search for something in the main body text of the story not just the title, description or author only like the top part of the search screen.

I searched "exact match" for "toe pick" and only one of the two even mentioned ice skating, the other story is book four in a series I only read first book of but didn't see it leading to anything ice skating but who knows with those other books.

The story is:

The Quick Search on the home page also includes the text of stories. "toe pick" in there returns the two results you found, not a premier feature.

Author?

I think Conradca might be referring to the film written and directed by Donald Wrye and co-written by Gary L. Baim. It's a romantic drama about a young figure skater who loses her sight in an accident and struggles to get back in to competition despite her situation.

The original 1978 film starred Lynn-Holly Johnson three years before she was a Bond girl. The remake in 2010 starred Taylor Firth, who has actually competed internationally but is not an actor. There was also a novel based on the film in 1981, long out of print.
