ETA ...though if you ignore the Kenya reference, "Emend by Eclipse" by Lazlo Zalezac might also apply; both main protagonist and his best buddy are returnees.
His former website, gwresearch, has disappeared from search engines. Now the returns are for Gastroenterology-Digestive disease research.
Though his books on Amazon.uk shows a new one published August 15, 2023.
So... dunno if he is still alive and writing/publishing or if someone is just taking advantage of already written works.

He's got two series 30+ books long out for Kindle Unlimited. They're new since then, and the most recent book was published within the last week. He's definitely alive and writing furiously.
Similarly, the website that I thought was current, www.geoffwolak-writing.com has apparently been abandoned, although as you say, the books continue to be published. I remember buying a bunch of the earlier Wilco series books directly from him via a website and exchanged a few emails in the process, although even then I believe they were available through Amazon. However and whoever is writing them, keep them coming!
