Bully drive off the cliff

Zellus ๐Ÿšซ

Young man and (two?) girlfriend's are going camping in a nature park, when a bully and his friend try to drive them off the road. A short time later they come to a sharp turn, and the MC brakes hard, the bully and his friends in the other car ends up dead in the valley below.

There's a scene similar to this in one of the long coming-of-age serials. I think it might be the later chapters of Aroslav's Living Next Door to Heaven, or possibly the second book. Not sure though.

The scene I recall is less cliff and valley below and more dry riverbed at high speed in a vehicle that's inappropriate for the terrain (sports car or muscle car on gravel road). I also can't recall if it was intentional camping or if they were in the woods hiding or some such.

@Dicrostonyx

Thanks, but I don't think that's the story.

If I remember correctly, the attackers used baseball bats to hit the car, and the attackers car was crushed when it hit the bottom of the valley.

Edit: IIRC; they still went camping, and a park ranger met them at their tent the next morning.

There's a vaguely similar scene in Wes Boyd's "Bird in the Hand", chapters 42+43. But its probably not your story. The bad guys fail to climb a steep hill, roll the car, but survive.

Going to Wes Boyd's story,
- one young man and his (one) girlfriend are out somewhere (I think it's winter, no camping involved).
- Frenchy and his two friends see them and follow them
- The young man is a birdwatcher and knows the woods really well so he takes a turnoff with his jeep.
- Frenchy follows in his high center-of-gravity car.
- the jeep goes up a very steep hill in 4wd (maybe at speed, young man knows it's there)
- Frenchy follows, but gets stuck and the car eventually falls over.
- Young man in a jeep then drives his girlfriend home, probably via the police station (he has a ppo on the three).
- Frenchy and his two friends finally find their way out of the woods and are promptly arrested for violating the ppo.

I'm amazed the Wes Boyd story was the one you were looking for, although if you'd remembered "Northern woods" you would have worked it out anyway.

It's a scene from Ernest Bywater's 'Rough Diamond'

@Ahab

It's a scene from Ernest Bywater's 'Rough Diamond'

and it's in the second half of chapter 2.

(I remembered it was one of EB's stories, but not the title. When you named the title I knew where to look for the scene.)

I love my CRS.

HM.

Thank you! That is the story I was looking for.

That's a lot of confusion for one typo.

@Dinsdale

It was NOT, the NOT story I was looking for, because the NOT story was the NOT. But this was NOT that, so this story is NOT the NOT...
