Lost it again

Getting old has its problems. One of the stories I like to reread from time to time is about a guy who participates in quick draw contests and writes stories he publishes on a site that sounds suspicishly like SOL, but isn't names. He lives in a cabin in Texas that has been in his family for generations. One of his heirlooms is his grandfather or great-grandfather's rifle, which has a scratch on the stock. He falls asleep writing, and wakes up back in the time period when the ranch was first started. I believe the ranch's name was 'Three Springs' or 'Sweet springs'.

Getting old has its problems.

In the real world as much as it sucks to get old/older, not getting old/older is worse.

That's the one. Thanks. For some reason my mind draws a blank when I want to reread this story, and I have yet to find a set of search words that will bring it forward.
