I need to update this request with a bit more detail. The story starts with a man who fights/boxes for money. He has a young relative that wants to do the same. After the main character wins a fight he starts to drift west. Late 1800s to early1900s. He spends time with a Wild West show and time with a woman who it turns out is stealing money from the gate. He leaves the show and makes it to California (San Francisco?) and is hired to clean up or report on police corruption. He meets the wife of a Chinese crime boss(?) and chaos transpires. She has a painting in her office of a farm. She saves him and he saves her.
