jist of the story is guy joins up and has a Korean friend who dies before he leaves the service where he becomes a paramedic
while training to become a paramedic he lives above a hardware shop he worked at as a child during summers he gains a stalker who attacks a work colleague who he shares flat with who then disappears.
he eventually marries sister of dead friend and organises a system that helps former combat medics into civilian life as medics? he also either helps create or invests in a heating system and reunites with former work colleague
