Lost a rant about tools

madnige ๐Ÿšซ

Not really a story, but rather a rant about the way Microsoft keeps changing things, using kitchen tools as a metaphor - for example, you paring knife which had red plastic handle and a short blade is suddenly, without notice, longer, thinner, and with a wooden handle. I think there was something about having to refit the whole kitchen for some minor change, and maybe the form and function of drawers swapping around for no apparent reason. It might have been here (may even still be), might have been an author blog entry, or it might have been elsewhere. I can say it wasn't artie's Tool Rant as I've just found and looked at that - that also bashes Microsoft for messing things up, but not in as clever a way as the one I'm looking for. Any Ideas, anybody?

@madnige

I think Ernest Bywater had an anti-Microsoft rant in at least one of his stories.

I think you're referring to New Computing World, but that's not it.

Maybe "Kitchen Rants" by Howard Faxon?

Not really a story, but rather a rant . . .

Just a thought, our esteemed webmaster sometimes deletes non-stories here with Not a story as the Reason.

That's actually very rare. Unless you count recordholder SuperstarOrion4 with over 30 "stories" removed with the reason "Deleted. Not worth the bits" :D
As far as I can look back no microsoft rant was removed as being "Not a story".

@Keet

You keep a log, I don't. I was simply looking at the "Recently Deleted Stories" list earlier and noticed one with that Reason given.

@Dinsdale

I believe those deleted 'stories' that receive the "Deleted. Not worth the bits" tag are mostly short, incomplete, and low scoring 'stories' that might otherwise fit the qualifications to be automatically archived.

I suspect it is one of the less used of the 'standard' reasons for deletion.
The two most common reasons for deletion are likely 'Deleted at author's request' and 'Deleted for Inappropriate Contents'
