Long story starts in SF Bay Area/Santa Rosa. Unsure of nanobot source but they repair and restore bodies. Self-replicating and with enough they become self-aware and enable telepathy-like communications. Somehow use nanobots to start and enhance lactation and eventually human milk ice cream dairy. I read it both here and on the almost dead site at least 10-15 years ago.
