Cold wether brain freeze

blast ๐Ÿšซ

I am curled up in bed feeling the cold for me in sunny Queensland, its 9 here this morning. I am trying to remember a story about a train that is snowbound that goes down an old unused line into a valley where there is an old station and a hotel where the train driver meets an old girlfriend. There is a mad dash to get into a town at the end of the story. Dose this ring a bell to anyone here

If you like the snow/old tracks/trains part there's a very good story from Wes Boyd that has lots of it: Snowplow Extra. Basically all of his stories are very good.

When I think of Australia, cold weather never comes to mind for some reason. After looking up Queensland, it was reported to be -4ยฐ C with strong winds.
I am curious as to if you get snow during your winter, or is it just a cold season?

I got curious too and typed "Australia snowfall" into my browser.
Seems you can get up to 6ft depth of snow in the Australian Alps.

All major ski and snow holidays locations are found on the Great Dividing Range spanning New South Wales and Victoria.

While the coastal cities like Sydney never get snow, there are mountains not far inland, so places as close to Sydney as Katoomba, about 60 miles, see snow every winter.

The only time I like snow is when I have to drive an hour or more to be in it.

I don't mind snow as long as I don't have to shovel it. 4 wheel drive for the win. :)

B'day mates
Thanks for your replies to my post here, I live in Brisbane the capital city of Queensland and we do not get snow. We do have a couple of places here in Queensland that get snow but that is extremely rear, we are called the sunshine State. Our winters are cold caused by winds coming from the south and getting as low as 4 or 5 is very rear. We enjoy the high 20s low 30s most of the time. On that matter how are you in the UK enjoying you very hot for you your summer temperatures in the 40s, in the top end of Australian in the wet season that is normal. Remember the top end only have two seasons, the wet season (September to march) and the dry season the other months of the year. I did spend a few years in my younger days on drilling rigs for mineral exploration in the Kimberley region of West Australian punching down holes searching for uranium in the middle of nowhere. We were many miles for the nearest towns. I worked from Halls creek right up to the coast line north of kununurra and the northern territory boarder in places yery few people ever get to see.

Thanks for answering the question. I couldn't find much for Queensland regarding snow.
