This is either an ongoing story or recently (in the last few months) completed. Protagonist is transported to a relatively backwater kingdom on a large island, with trunks containing gold and a lot of "how to" books. Finally he meets the princess (that was not his goal), who's been holding court to find a husband who'll actually be of benefit to the kingdom (rich noble fops need not apply).
I'm not sure if this is a completed first installment of a book series, if it's still ongoing, or if it's a one-and-done (which would be sad).
