Going over old stories, found a broken link.

Freyrs_stories 🚫

been going over my history and found a story that seems to of been removed. I don't think it's too old a story, the id number is 41639 if that's of any help to someone who can see the back end.

I have no idea what sort of log files etc are kept for the site but not being able to put together any information on this broken link is irking my pseudo- ocd tendencies.

While thinking on that point I do wonder what sort of logs the site keeps, just in a general manner of course. there are standard house keeping files that are used to track down bugs. I'm more thinking logs of who does what where, sort of thing. I know the site is very privacy oriented so I doubt there are reams of data generated by users etc but the idea stuck in my head.

thanks in advance

the story in question is:

'Murder of Mary Westbury' by 'Laurie Fallon'.

It was deleted on 2021-09-21 10:51:54.
Reason for deletion: Deleted because incomplete and Irrelevant

You have premier service, in the Library there is a 'Removed' entry and it list the last 100 deleted stories and the reason.

Also if you build a link manually in a window that isn't logged in the form of the site's domain name followed by '/s/' and the story's id, the 404 page will tell you why it was deleted. (I won't make the link here as google will report it as a broken internal link.) Before 2009, I didn't keep track of what's been deleted. So if a story was deleted in 2008, the system won't tell you why.

The story you're referring to was a 800 words chapter 1 that was never followed by anything and the author disappeared. There wasn't enough to even have an idea where the person was headed with the story.

Periodically, when I have time and I think of it, I go over old archived stories that are inactive and are very short to see if they're worth keeping. I've deleted more than 50 stories that way.

@Freyrs_stories

ok, thanks. I have no idea why I would of gone to storyinfo on something so short nor does the title ring a bell. but as I said, thanks for chasing up a loose end.
