I'm addicted so sue me!

LonelyDad ๐Ÿšซ

OK I will admit it. G Younger has snared me again. I am a retired old fart, so one of my time wasters is wandering around my 8+k of SOL stories and reading some of the high points of some of my favorites, and sometimes reading the whole story. So, a couple of days ago I went to reread the last couple of chapters of 'A Better Man'. That sent me to reread the last couple of chapters of 'Senior Year Book III' By then I was hooked, and started at the beginning, and am currently about half way through 'Freshman Year Part II' And I know that there is no way I am going to be able to avoid reading ALL of the rest of Stupid Boy. Oh well, at least it will keep me busy for a few days. I think this is about the third time I have done this to Stupid Boy. What can I say, it is a good read.

Better

"Is someone who bets called A Better?
Better comes from the Old English word betera. A bettor is one who bets, especially as a habit. Bettor is an American word, it seems to be gaining ground internationally. Better is also an accepted term for one who bets, in British English."

Just another example of how those smarmy Brits mangle good old American English! :-)

There is no doubt that American English gets pretty old, pretty quickly. :-)

There's no such thing as GOOD old American English or BAD old American English, or NEW American English of either sort - but there's plenty of BAD Yankee which imitates English.

Try saying that to the face of someone from one of the former Confederate states. :)

It's probably the more common form in British English.

Actually, someone who bets is a bettor

Edited for a typo.

Unlike British English, 'bettor' seems to have a clear majority in American English.

I've reread the series at least half a dozen times. Each time a new part would come out I'd reread the whole thing. Loved it is an understatement. Better Man came out and was a radical departure in style and about made me sick. I grudgingly read it again when it was published openly and now I feel a bit better about it. Good lessons on changing styles in an established series.

Would a man who likes anal sex on the "pitching" side be a butter?

Or perhaps you've not yet come to the thrust of his point...?

Laughing, I did exactly the same sequence, ending up re-reading the entire series. While waiting for the next "Third Son" chapter.
