Another story, and in this case author, I rarely see mentioned on these boards. Not all of Dragon Cobalt's stories work for me, but when he grooves his fucking-around-with-stories mode, he's great fun. Most of his stories of this type, he mashes up a couple specific genres, never the same ones, in unique and entertaining ways.
This one has naked psychic warriors (clothing dampens their powers) in mecha suits fighting an evil interstellar empire of psychic vampires, with a side order of Neanderthal superheroes from another planet. If that mashup turns you off, yeah, you should avoid this one. My reaction is more like heck yeah. The story puts the author's unique brand of gonzo plotting and hyperkinetic fucking around on full-frontal display, wrapped around a plot that dovetails together neatly. Also, come on—obligate naked warriors. Dude.
