It is such a shame, and also surprising, the number of unfinished stories on SOL. Would be nice for someone to finish them, a marathon task I accept but so many readable tales spoilt by frustrating 'finishes'.

Are you considering to finish these stories without explicitly granted by the author? That would be a blatant violation of the author's copyright!

As far as I know, the only way to handle the unfinished stories problem is to only read stories that are complete. As you point out there are lots of stories, some of them worth reading in my opinion, that authors still need to finish. In some cases they won't because of illness or death, in other cases they run out of ideas or time to actually post more (jobs or other situations change). Please don't suggest only completed stories get posted. We would lose a lot of items worth reading if that were the approach taken by all authors.
Some stories marked "complete" aren't really, the author just quit, or killed off the characters that would have been interesting to continue writing about. Stories here are "free" or nearly free if you send some money to Lazeez to get the benefits of being a Premier (of Canada) reader. Which is a good idea if you can afford it, again in my opinion.
There is a saying, you get what you pay for. Free is a good price, but sometimes you don't get what you hope for. A good ending to a good story. Very infrequently another author steps in and posts more to a story, or finishes it. Generally speaking you notice it isn't the same story, once another author has taken it over.
