Thick Body

awnlee jawking ๐Ÿšซ

What do you understand by the expression 'thick body' when you read it in a story? I didn't know so I had to look it up, and I'm still not sure its meaning is always obvious.

A google search turned up a range of meanings from mildly complimentary (exaggeratedly curvaceous or musclebound bodybuilder) to downright uncomplimentary (fat).

Kim Lardashian comes to mind. Maybe Ashley Graham.

Similar for me, but the other way around. Ashely Graham, then maybe Kim Kardashian.

And I'm one who prefers women with more meat on their bones. I'd put Ashely Graham as close to my personal ideal for feminine beauty.

It's spelled Thicc but pronounced Tick

In my opinion, it's context sensitive. It could be either derogatory or complimentary dependent upon the rest of the sentence/paragraph.

My first thought about a thick body was about a collection of people with a thick skulls like any group of elected officials.

On SOL, it's often associated with men, not just women. Without context, that would be a surprise for someone expecting Ashley Graham (who?).

Mae West

Nope. She was voluptuous.

Thick is pretty vague, it requires further description, without which it becomes a stumbling-block to the reader.

Thick is pretty vague

Not really I follow several sites with user generated porn drawing. The stuff they label thicc is generally not fat in a general sense, but volutuous on ridiculous steriods.

Take Mea Wes, make her breasts, hips, and ass 2 to 3 times as big, but only make her waist half again as big, That's thicc.

One of the games I play uses 'Thick' as one of the body types. The list goes in order: Thin; Fit; Muscular, Thick, Fat. Basically, thin is a skinny nerd; Fit is a runner or swimmer body type; while muscular looks like a body builder or heavy sports type. Thick looks like a power lifter or boxer type of build. No Spare tire but also no six pack. Fat has the spare tire.

I haven't played with the female body types so have no idea what they consider a 'thick' (not thicc) female form.

How much you want to take from that is up to you. The game developers are based in Italy so that may also be a factor.

Where I come from 'thick' is used to describe someone who's stupid

That used to be the general usage of that word. Just like WAP used to be the descriptor for a sound made when you hit someone.

The context is bodies. I guess someone might say, "I hate my stupid body," but that probably means something different to what you meant ;-)

I think it was whap, not WAP. Isn't WAP White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant?

I looked on line, I was wrong, they were WASP. Google says:

"What is a "WAP" and what does "WAP" stand for? The slang term and acronym "WAP" is a noun and adjective, which is popularized by Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B when they released their first collab "WAP". WAP means Wet Ass Pussy.

I agree, but I said it first. "I looked on line, I was wrong, they were WASP."

Generally, if the writer is white, it's derogatory, if they're black, it's complimentary. There are plenty of exceptions, but the ideal white image is a size 0-, while in the black community, it's big butts and breasts. (I always skated down the middle, admiring the thin, flat-chested black athletes.) I don't mind a big woman, but I lean towards my own family body type, which is rail thin, lanky vs. curvaceous.

Among gays, it's found among the Bear community (thick, chunk, hairy older guys).

That's an unacknowledged reference to the (supposed) amount of fat in their brains.

Sorry, but 'WAP' is a derisive term for Italians, and was frequently throw around during the big European Immigration into the U.S. in the middle 20th Century.

Actually the derisive term is WOP not wap

That's an unacknowledged reference to the (supposed) amount of fat in their brains.

Ironically, brains are made up of fat and neurons, mostly (with blood vessels and fluids being the remainder). Calling someone a meathead would be a more technically accurate insult, as brains are pretty much lacking in muscle.

@Crumbly Writer

Was also applied to Hungarians and Romanians (and Germans and other eurotrash) who arrived after WWII without any documentation, hence WithOutPapers or 'WOP'.
I can't recall, I know Gino is a standard term for Italians (much like Paddy for us Irish) but is Dago for Spaniards or Italians?

AFIK: Dago is for Italians.

StarFleet Carl ๐Ÿšซ

derisive term for Italians,

No, that's WOP.

What sound does an Italian flat tire make?

Dago wop, wop, wop.

(I've heard most of the derogatory Italian jokes known - FROM Italians! Little town in Indiana called Clinton - has the Little Italy Festival every year. Full of Italians, and all the old houses had underground tunnels connecting them, because that's where they'd do their bootlegging. Al Capone visited there.)
