Lubrican stories

PotomacBob ๐Ÿšซ

I'm a fan of Lubrican stories. I like how he takes a truism and applies it to a particular story. I like how he weaves in tidbits of ranching or whatever job a character has, teaching me something about how that job works. He weaves his characters in such a way that I care what happens to them - THE key to whether I like a story.
I have only read a few of his stories. I'd like recommendations (assume I've haven't read any) of stories of Lubrican that you like - and what's in that particular story that makes it likeable.
Thanks in advance.

One I liked was Last Wish Blues. Girl with cancer gets sent to a ranch by make a wish or one of those charities. Finds love, then goes into remission.

I don't remember the name of the other one, guy from NSA falls for a girl he finds while viewing satellite surveillance feeds, eventually they meet then some other stuff then happily ever after.

Also, IIRC he did a rather amusing christmas story involving all the kids who ask Santa for baby brothers/sisters...

Personal Lubrican recommendations? Any, except Penelope, Mistress of the Manor. That one was just WAY out of his normal for me.

I'm not going to go through the list but is there any Lubrican story without pregnancy?

I'd like recommendations (assume I've haven't read any) of stories of Lubrican that you like - and what's in that particular story that makes it likeable.

Someone already mentioned Last Wish Blues but I'll put in I consider it one of his best. Another is Any Soldier. Another is the Misty Compton story (#13) in Making Of A Gigolo series. Also the Epilogue of that series. Finally, there is his recent The Seventh Sense. All of these are at the top of the 275 stories in his library. Like just jaw droppingly good.

And there are a bunch that come really, really close to that designation. Mistrusting A Memory is one. Inspecting The Inspector is another. The Bad Bet is also in there. So is For Want Of A Memory. Ditto for Cattleman's Lament. All of the above are on my repeat read list.

I've reviewed a few of them (Last Wish Blues, Any Soldier, #13 in Making Of A Gigolo). So if interested you can get a more in-depth evaluation there.

How do I find the reviews? Have to look up the individual story one at a time?

@PotomacBob

On the Main Page, there is a list of links at the top that start with New Stories, Updates, etc. One of the links is Reviews. Clicking on it will take you to a page that allows you to search by reviewer. Clicking on that gives you an alphabetic list of reviewers. Click on any to get a list of all reviews by that reviewer. The list contains story and author. You can find all of the reviews of Lubrican's stories that way.

I'll add that I don't think this is a Premier Member only option but I'm not sure.

Thank you very much. that's really useful to know, assuming I can remember.

Another one of his that was quite good involved a interracial romance, I think in the south during the 50s or 60s between a school teacher and at least one of her students. I don't recall many other details.
