What to Re-Read

richardshagrin ๐Ÿšซ

Recently I have re-read most of Aragon's stories and was very glad I did. I also have be re-reading rlfj's The Grim Reaper, and am currently reading about Grim's police career. There is a reason these stories are highly rated, they are a lot of fun to read, even if you remember how they turned out in the past.

I am thinking about changing my signing on name. RichardShagrimreaper. Rich and hard as in the past, Sha as in the emperor of Persia, and grim reaper.

You must read Argon, it's a gas..!!

Re-reading The Millionaire next door by Lazlo Zalezac right now. Just went through a bunch of Ernest Bywater stories. I would also say woodmanone is good along with Coaster2 and Happy Hugo

gruntsgt ๐Ÿšซ

All the stories by FantasyLover are a given, to me at least. Several dozen of Aubie56 and Colt45 right off the top of my head.

Finbar_Saunders ๐Ÿšซ

I'm rereading Oceania by espresso55
Really liking the construction.

Then of course there's Al Steiner's Greenies, Aftermath and Doing it all Over.

Seventh Sense by Lubrican is also high on my to do list

If you like Science Fiction - I've found "Worlds of Light" by Sea Life" to worth reading several times.

I would agree with many of the others mentioned earlier in this thread.

What is wrong with you people? I mean, no one is as crazy as me, and I have read and re-read all the the stories by the authors mentioned more than once. I will mention a couple of other authors that I reread on a regular basses.
Dual Writer
Douglas Fox
JRyter: Who I am currently re-reading one of his stories.

Ernest Bywater ๐Ÿšซ

@richardshagrin

the stories by Catman are a good read.

At the moment i'm re-reading Medusa: Fates game by Novus animus, it's an interesting take on medusa's story in Greek mythology, the sex scenes can be a bit repetitive however there are good reasons for this but it's well worth the read.

LonelyDad ๐Ÿšซ

It sounds like it would be a good time to read all of the 'Stupid Boy' stories by G Younger. I read them all chapter by chapter as they were posted, but it is better to read them straight through, as they become more of a continuum rather than individual stories.

I just recently re-read the Richard Jackson saga by Banadin. I'm now going outside SOL for a bit and am rereading Leo Frankowski's Cross-Time Engineer series.

My thoughts too. I bought the last on at $4.99 and felt it was to short (Read in 7 hours) and this new one looks shorter for a dollar more.

I will admit I loved that series. The idea of Playboy clubs in medieval Poland and all the rest was a riot.

But towards the end, it became a kind of Mary Sue, and then after he and his publisher broke off it kinda went to crap. Literally Leo hooked up with a Russian "mail order bride", and talked his publisher Jim Baen into doing the same thing. Jim's bride turned out to be a nightmare and he dumped Leo as an author. Then Leo's marriage ended.

His last 2 books were published posthumously, and they were pretty bad. I got them to finish she series, but they were nowhere near as good as his earlier ones.

A true Leo fan I too know the history and agree with your comments. I will disagree that the last stories were bad. They just did not have his, "flair" for lack of a better term. I think the part that pissed me off the most was that neither was in the style of Leo but were passed off as a story in the series.

Well, the last was in fact one he wrote. Crusade was one that Baen turned down, which he said was poorly written.
And sadly, I agree with that. I admit I have even considered writing some "fanFic" and posting them in here based on his writings.

Maybe when I finish all of the other stories I am working on, and major editing to older ones. But it has been in the back of my mind.

Both stories by The Night Hawk are worth reading six or seven times. https://storiesonline.net/a/The_Night_Hawk

Then slip over to Fine Stories and reread The Outsider's stories, especially The Knox Family stories. https://finestories.com/a/The_Outsider

I just re-read, for the fifth or sixth time, Refusenik's three stories - "Human Phoenix", "Human Man", and "Island Mine". Each was just as powerful this reading as they were the first time I read them.

I just finished rereading Synergy by Colt45. It always puts a smile on my face.

Synergy is a nice read. No squicks, a new twist on Psi and well developed characters.

as in the past, Sha as in the emperor of Persia, and grim reaper.

I would add the Florida Friends series by Dual Writer except he refers to an evening flight of a few minutes with a fully qualified pilot as an exciting and dangerous undertaking (DW's word "adventure").. OK so English English is my original language! I still enjoy his prose

Adventure: an exciting or noteworthy event that one experiences firsthand. -- Mirriam-Webster

Personally, any time I get to sit in the co-pilot's seat, it is exciting. It only becomes dangerous when they let me play with all those knobs and things.

Just finished re-reading Snatched by cmsix for the umpeenth time lol. An enjoyable "do over" read. All his stories are in premier only now and unfortunately this is the only 1 I have in epub :(

The Hawk and the Chipmunk. Really good story. I've read it twice and thinking about doing it again

Magestic by gwresearch is an absolute MUST re-read, simply because of the sheer quantity of text. So much detail, such character depth, I've gotten through the series 4 times and still picked up new details and nuances

Thanks for this recommendation. I'm liking how this story starts.

richardshagrin ๐Ÿšซ

I recently used advanced search for the word "Viking" and was rewarded with 407 entries. It is possible not all of them are separate stories, but many of them looked interesting and some familiar, well worth reading/re-reading. I was trying to find an older story about a Viking named Uthelred, I think. There is a new story by Zak starting with Uthred the Viking as its title, which started my search. My Viking search turned up a lot of different stories, most not really about vikings, just with a character or behavior that reminded the story author about viking behavior. Its also the name for some boats, if I got the reference correctly. And some SF about neo-vikings. If "More" on the front page isn't getting you through the Covid 19 days, try searching for stories with key words that might interest you. With 100 or 300 stories on SOL at your disposal, you should be able to look around several dozen to find one or more you really like.

This is a suggestion of newer stories to read. I ran into an author new to me, who first posted in November last year. One of her stories is scored at 9.03 and only the last two of 26 score slightly under 7.0. Cheryl Terra

Yet another suggestion, a story I am currently reading.

"Go-Card
Science Fiction
by Kris Me
A story from the Keltrian Universe

Tom felt a bus pass him and then heard it hit the brakes just as he neared the stop. Without much thought, he stepped into the bus, after the rear doors, whooshed open beside him. He stopped long enough to flash his 'Go-Card' at the device to pay for his trip. The bloody thing wouldn't register. 'Great, just bloody great,' he fumed. The card was out of cash. [Note: Reading the book Delta, will give the history of some of the characters but this book isn't a continuation of that series.]

The author has a lot of stories here on SOL, almost all of them are well worth reading. Well, the lowest scoring "story" is a very short poem, I haven't read it.

SeaLife had a number. Currently rereading Some Kind of Hero. It's a superhero origin story, with very little superhero action, but a good story. Cries out for sequels, but...

If you search for "Magestic Geoff Wolak" you will find his site. Contact him and you can buy them from him directly and avoid the amazon criminals. I think I read it here on SOL three times before I bought all of Magestic and K2 from him. Not free, but still available and worth every penny.
