So many options on where to post this, cannot contact the author as Direct Message doesn't seem to be an option, comments are turned off. Also I'm not finding the option to report it to Laz as a potential abuse of the download counter(although if that's the intent, it'll likely burn the author in the long run), but also cannot rule out what I'm seeing is either a bug or an editing issue.

That it's happening with a story restricted to Premium users makes me wonder about the abuse angle though.

Chapter 2 is a verbatim repost of the second half of Chapter 1.

Chapter 4 is a verbatim repost of Chapter 3.

I haven't read the story but it sounds more like a posting/parsing error to me.

Once I could believe, twice is pushing credibility, as I'd expect the author to be contacting Laz to report they're having a problem and needing help. Of course, cannot rule out that the author hasn't noticed. Which is why I said I cannot rule out a bug, since the poster may not have noticed the issue. (And he may have dumped the entire story into the posting queue at the start and botched the initial submission process, with no subsequent return visit to notice it went wrong)

Edit: Looks like Laz has since corrected the identified issues as they're no longer present and there is no modified tag attached to the changes.

the story is being posted the way the author is submitting it. But upon reading this thread I went, checked and fixed it.

The author might screw it up again, I don't know.

23kB spread over 4 chapters and you're saying around 3/8 of that is duplicated. What's the score for "You call that a story"?

I think to be a paid story, you should have had a period as a free story, reached a number of views/score before you can convert. If I paid money and this was my story (NIS Parents) I'd feel cheated compared to the free stuff. Not intended as an offense to the author - just being honest that it needs to be established to make it worth paying.

The last time I looked - and it's a long time ago - the first chapter of a Premier Only story was "free", subsequent chapters required the P Membership.
That was way before the site started "archiving" stories so the rules have most probably changed, otherwise single-chapter stories would all be accessible.

Working from memory here (I looked into it a while back, not long after archiving started), so this might be wrong - both from CRS and from updates.

Single chapter stories preview a part of the story

Large stories have more than one chapter in the free preview

- that is, I remember it as the free preview is a proportion of the story.

If you are not logged in, many more (all?) chapters have a preview, but this is shorter per-chapter IIRC.
