I stopped reading Arlene & Jeff at ch 182 of the third book a while ago. I was thinking of picking it up again but I'd like to know if the things that made me stop last time is worse or better in the latest chapters.
What I'm talking about isn't weddings, not really as I think that all the weddings are a sympton of it. It's the whole side-character PoV bonanza. I really liked the first 2 books, where it's about what the blurb says, Jeff keeping their family together. But when you have about 15 different alphas and all of them have multiple partners, Jeff and his family gets alot less "screen time" than they used to. I don't think I could name half of Jeff's current wives because in the last 50 chapters some of them have barely been mentioned or said a word. I don't mind that there are alot of side characters, nor that there are alot of weddings, but I do mind how in depth of all their personal stories and the time that's spent from their PoVs. I'm sorry but I don't really care about 3 construction workers even if one of them is an alpha. I don't need to spend 20 chapters getting to know a new girl that will marry a side-character and almost disappear from the story. Yes, keep those characters because they add to the story, but give the less important characters less attention. Tell their stories through the eyes of the protagonist or something. The story hasn't moved anywhere in a long while because of all the side plots that every alpha in the clan has, all of which are told in depth.
I found the pacing of the first 2 books alot better, and I know that it won't get better anytime soon where I am at the story. But I was wondering if the latest chapters like the ~450+ still derails on long sideplots that could be mostly glossed over that drags the story down to a snails pace?
