I imagine it hurts to see your favorite author wasting their time on blogs and in forum discussions when they should use every spare minute to continue their serial.
Oh no. I am not that delusional ... or entitled.
I just check to see if they are active or if there is any clue about when they might continue.
If your favourite serial is 'The Black Rabbit', you've just passed over an opportunity to quiz the author ;)

I blog when I've got something to say about a story just posted or recently posted, but the forums is where I spend time while trying to let the back of my mind work out a difficult scene or two while writing a story or when I'm having some non-creative issues and need to pass the time.
I use the participation in forum discussions as a form of self-flagellation, which I deserve for the tardiness of my writing.
