GMW has a new story posted today, 10/22. Captain Zim, a coming of age story. A great read, I thought. But it's showing "Inactive and Incomplete". It was just posted today. It does stop and leave one hanging, but it's the type of story that could go on for years. Sort of along the "Stupid Boy" line. Wondering what would cause the Inactive tag if it just posted today. Also, the ages of some active participants may be an issue. Certainly the Germans will be pissed.
Gina used to have her own site - "Beyond the Far Horizon."Due to severe health reasons she is discontinuing that site, and Laz has permission to post the stories from there to SOL. So I am assuming that either Laz is going to do the usual chapter by chapter posting, or Gina never finished it. My data drive just crashed so I can't check to see which it is.
While I am sad that Gina's health problems are taking her out of the scene, I am thankful that she has allowed Laz to echo the stories from her site here.

I wish Mike Cropo had done similar as I would suspect that a huge audience would follow his story line... hint if you never read it before you would have weeks of reading material but in order to access you have to go Premium due to the TOS SOL agreement (and how long the story is preserved and who can read it). darn lawyers
Mike Cropo's estate had mentioned allowing someone to finish the last story he wrote. As far as I know, no one ever volunteered to do so.
If you're looking at BtFH, the page is pretty much a request for the site owner to get in touch with the hosting company.
I wonder what would happen if someone else came along, claimed to be the site owner and was prepared to pay the outstanding bills.
My guess is that they would go along with it, although there could still be a problem with passwords. Not something I'm planning on doing, that was just idle curiosity.
Without the permission of the prior owner, most web hosting companies won't transfer a URL for about 6 months.

SOL has two levels of access to stories. You need to adjust your account settings to full access to read/see some stories that have iffy character ages in them. Go to "my account" page and check your preferences section.
It's removed now. Still shows in search but it links to a "not found" page.
Due to the story's contents (under 14 sex) I had to make changes. It's still on the site, but it's filtered on the normal access level.

For incomplete and inactive, is it possible to add a note as to how the story ends? What i mean is, at the stopping point, am I looking to the clouds, begging to know if MC is going to survive emergency surgery? Or might the story be like Lazlo's The Quatyl - the story could have ended there with just a couple more words, we are left believing MC will live long and prosper.
I'd forgotten that the story was incomplete. I have the BtFH version downloaded and Chapter 14 was posted in May 2018, which is before her health really went south (I think).
We'd need the Forum posts from back then - or someone who remembers them - to know why that story stopped at that point. Some time around then she lost the site because she was relying on an old and buggy level of PHP, and her Hoster unilaterally installed a new and incompatible version. She had already been hacked a couple of times by then, the writing really had been on the wall for a while.
The original "Far Side" used to be on BtFH but she pulled it and posted on Amazon, no idea when. I'm not sure how much this new book really makes sense without the original.
One thing I remember about the original was that the evil POTUS was a woman, a chapter or two later the evil POTUS was a black male from the Chicago area. What had happened in the meantime was that Obama had moved ahead in the primaries. (the evil POTUS may have been a misguided POTUS, I can't be bothered to look it up).

Apart from the author (who didn't finish it), no one knows how it was meant to end (and quite a few authors don't know how their story ends until they get there...).

That story (along with his "More Magic") fell foul of a lightning strike which destroyed his computer. I can't remember whether he had not bothered taking backups or whether they were simply unreadable, the Microsoft backup utility was notorious back then for producing backups which could only be read under the same level of the utility.
Lazlo was not alone in that, Lazlong lost a lot when he was suddenly hospitalised and his hard disk died before he was released again.
To me Gina's stories and others from her site would be excellent candidates for the Science fiction sister site.
They would also benefit from being posted in the correct order. "Cleon" needed to be posted after the story which preceded it, and "Jako Nighthawk" was part of one chapter of that exact same story.
The same thing is happening with the https://storiesonline.net/a/Prince_von_Vlox stories currently being posted - the order is random with stories appearing with no context.

I sent you a suggestion with respect to GMW's "Paratime" stories a few days ago, it included deleting "Jako Nighthawk" (either now or after "The Price of Vengeance" goes up).
Now I'll do the same for the Bruce Bretthauer stories. Btw, most of those Bretthauer stories (at least the long ones) were also published via Amazon.
The author page had a date column, for Gina's it would give this order (it may not be perfect as an author deleting a story and reposting an improved version would put it out of order)

I believe "The Value of Honor 2021-07-19" is the newest version of Tangent, and noticed 3 older versions (plus some snippets) in that list.
Suggest to Laz that he set up a universe for each set and advise him of the correct order.
