every time I see "pen names" used instead of "pseudonyms" my mind flashes on a scene of a husband holding up a pen and telling his wife "I'm going to go work on a few sex scenes with Susan, Dear." LOL
The problem is that a pseudonym refers to any fictitious name that someone uses for a particular purpose. So unless it says "ralord82276" on your birth certificate, that is a pseudonym.
A pen name or nom-de-plume is a type of pseudonym used by an author for whatever reason.
Given that most people on SOL will be using pseudonyms, it does actually make sense to make this distinction.
A pen-pal is someone you exchange letters with.
A pseudo-pal is the voice in your head telling you to kill the next person who smiles at you.

Not to a son. My mother had two brothers (Bob and Bill(William). They both tended to be fairly crude.
They showed up to my brother's wedding in overalls and were threatening to expose themselves. I told uncle Bill to not "free willy".
