What is a stroke story?
A story written for men to masturbate whilst reading it. Popular stroke stories are fairly short and by the time the stroker gets to the end they are ejeculating onto their keyboard. Again.
These same guys, if they ever actually get to try intercourse with a living female, can't read the entire stroke story title before cumming.
A story written for men to masturbate whilst reading it.
Missing a second 'to'?
I know 99% of stroke stories here will be written by men for men, but surely there's scope for erotic stories for women to masturbate to. I thought that was the big deal about 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.
AJ
is it still a stroke story when it's over 100,000 words and 20 chapters, but there's a sex scene in most chapters? also it's intended to be read by both sexes.
but there's a sex scene in most chapters?
So no more than 1 sex scene per chapter, and not quite every chapter.
My $0.02:
Length alone should exclude it from being considered a stroke story.
However, if you want to be broader about what counts as a sex story, at this point you have to start getting into issues such as how much of each chapter does the sex scene take up. Is the sex scene the entire chapter? 75%? Less than half?
Length alone should exclude it from being considered a stroke story.
I have to agree.
But if it were a stroke story, surely it could only be for women. I don't know any men who could manage 20 ejaculations in succession ;-)

I suppose that a man inclined to do so could use it for edging.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edging_(sexual_practice)
Edging, peaking, or surfing[1] is a sexual technique whereby an orgasm is controlled. It is practiced alone or with a partner and involves the maintenance of a high level of sexual arousal for an extended period without reaching climax.
When practiced by males, direct sexual stimulation without the refractory period after orgasm is observed.[citation needed] When the controlled orgasm is achieved, the physical sensations are greater as compared to conventional orgasm. Orgasm control is referenced as "slow masturbation" in Alex Comfort's The New Joy of Sex (1993)[2] and "extended massive orgasm" in Vera and Steve Bodansky's 2000 book of the same name.[1] It is similar to the Venus Butterfly technique used in the volume The One Hour Orgasm (1988) by Leah and Bob Schwartz. Detailed practices including exercises can be found in several books, such as Mantak Chia's The Multi-Orgasmic Man.[3]

That could be "much sex" rather than "stroke."
Is there a plot that has sex in every chapter? Maybe the sex is part of the plot. Then it's "much sex." Is it only sex with no plot? Then it is "stroke."
It's subjective. In this past Valentine's Day contest, my story was "minimal sex" while StarFleetCarl's was "some sex." I had more sex in my minimal sex story than he had in his some sex story.
As to length of the story, "Six Times a Day" is over 4 million words yet, in my opinion, is stroke. It's listed as "much sex," but when I gave up reading it years ago I thought it was basically the same sex over and over again. No real plot. Just an excuse to have sex.
yer, there's at least one sex scene in about 3/4 chapters, maybe a few fewer. When I say sex scene however that does not need to mean penetration in every instance. timeline wise penetrative sex doesn't occur till well past halfway. prior to that it is petting and mutual masturbation.
there is a fairly high word count in those scenes that make up the sexual sections. plot wise the sex is central to the plot. it grows organically and passes in waves or cycles. sometimes it's down and dirty, other times emotional but clinical.
I would say 'much sex' but not stroke as it has a developed plot. I do have concerns re: sex scene word count % of story total word count.
As I said the majority of chapters contain some kind of sexual content. It builds in intensity as things 'progress'. I've not read any of six times a day but am aware of it and its length.
one of the volunteer editors here won't do 'stroke' but says might do stroke w/ plot. I'm not sure I understand how that works. but perhaps six times a day could have worked as an exception though that would of worn me thin pretty quick.
I think 1/2 a million words with much sex may be straining most peoples relationship with their pink bits. So in what I'm working on there are 'rest' periods.
I do wonder how people 'interact' with stories this long and the differences between releasing on a schedule or in one hit. but I think this is outside the scope of this thread perhaps.

Given that this is a sex story site and your chapters are long, I'd probably rate that as 'some sex'.

If the technical quality is half decent and there's something resembling a coherent plot, posting on a schedule should earn your story a much higher score and a much larger readership. A once and done story of that length would be ignored by most readers because they wouldn't have time to read it and it would soon disappear from the front page.

A story site where sex stories are allowed?
Sex sells and that's how the site is promoted, thus it attracts sex story readers and writers.
I don't know what structure World Literature Publishing is aiming for, but I suspect it's too late to spin off the sex stories into a separate site to leave SOL as a parent/umbrella.
AJ
SOL's main feature is adult stories. Would make not sense to strip the SOL site of its primary content.
Perhaps you're not aware of World Literature's other site finestories.net The finestories site is the repository of the non-sexual stories.
Your user ID and password can be used at both sites.

IMO finestories and scifistories haven't really taken off yet. And I believe finestories and scifistories are 'no explicit sex'. A space opera novel with a couple of sex scenes doesn't seem to have a comfortable home on WLC.

A sex story site where no-sex stories are allowed.
5,626 no-sex stories.
49,411 stories with at least some sex.

For me, stroke with plot is "much sex."
I'm used to writing sex in stories, so even sex in every chapter might be "some sex" to me while it would be "much sex" to others. My Valentine's Day contest example clearly proves that the case (in that case, "minimal" vs "some").
I'm hesitant to code a story as "much sex." Many people on this forum say they won't read much sex stories. My guess is that is because they're thinking stroke. And someone looking for a stroke-like story would be put off by a story I said was much sex but had plenty of non-sex in it too (developing plot and/or characters).

As a fan of that story, I disagree. It's got tons of sex, but it is handled in an over-the-top humorous way.
There's an early Jimmy Carr joke in which he says that the biggest difference between men and women is that women will watch a porn video to the end.
Stroke stories are the textual equivalent to modern XXX videos. If you stop watching when you're done, you're not going to feel like you missed the plot or want to know how it turns out.
To me a stroke story doesn't really have a story, just lot's of sex.
If you look at Duelwriter's first Vacation? story almost every chapter starts with a sex scene and ends with one, but it is no way near a stroke story.
