I just read the story, i feel like they owe it to samuel to publicize the confession and the aftermath of it.

Even in his deathbed(literally) he is still is labelled as the murderer.

It would be a nice end to the story of how people deal with the consequences/aftermath.

I guess i just feel bad for sammy and i can't get over it.

I personally love Lazlo Zalzac stories. I have avoided that particular story because the story description warned potential readers of just the situation you describe.
Developing empathy in the reader for the characters is a necessary part of being a good author. Zalzac is very good at it. In an offhanded way you have paid him a complement.
