World on Fire by Tallorder64 (INCOMPLETE)

I have enjoyed a few of Tallorder64's stories. World on Fire is incomplete and as far as I can tell has not been reviewed.
Has anybody here read it? Do you recommend it to others? Anything unique about it?

Thank you for the information on the author's status. But did you read the story and, if so, how did you like it.

I didn't make it past this paragraph in the first chapter:

Betty Armand was in Bag Dad interviewing an Iraqi policeman, live on CNN, about the dangers of being a policeman in Iraq. Betty wore the head scarf that was required in Iraq. She had only been in Iraq for a couple of weeks and she saw this as her big break. It was dangerous but she had hired a couple of bodyguards; paid for by her Congressman father, naturally. CNN was falling behind Fox and ABC but Betty was sure that she could make a name for herself and help CNN's ratings too.

Never seen or heard of a bag of dads. The author obviously didn't research far enough to learn the head covering is called a 'Hijab' nor enough to learn it's not just Iraq where it is required of women.

The premise started heavily flawed, therefore I put the story aside.

I'd give a pass on that. When the Duchess of Cambridge consorts with UK Moslems, for example, she's reported as wearing a scarf. Even UK Moslems themselves sometimes call it a scarf when in the company of non-Moslems.

A Hijab covers from top of the head to the ankles; it is very different from a scarf. It is typical for Western Women, in particular non-Muslims to wear a Head Scarf to demonstrate respect for local mores.

Hijabs differ on a national/regional basis; as well as by particular Islamic sects. Some have the females' whole face exposed, others have a just an eye slit... (sometimes even the eye-slit has a mesh screen)

So what is the rule in Iraq? In newspaper photos, to me the women seem to be wearing what I would call a headscarf, but some are clad head-to-foot and a tiny number even have no head covering at all.

Iran, by comparison, seems to be mostly head-to-foot.

No, that would be a burqa not a hijab.

I plead Lack of Coffee!

I know the difference and have written about it. I really should have checked my references, but I was sublimely confident (in my mistaken statement).
