Manuscript Writing Cafe

Switch Blayde ๐Ÿšซ

I saw this on the BBC news. There's a coffee shop in Japan called the Manuscript Writing Cafe. It's for procrastinating authors. The author sets writing goals when he orders coffee and employees keep checking on him to see if he's meeting his goals.

From the following article: "The Manuscript Writing Cafe in Tokyo only admits writers with a deadline to meet, and won't let them leave until they've met it."

Who needs NaNoWriMo?

One of the writers my wife translates for has used that cafe. Their clientele is predominantly business types on a deadline. Not really fiction writers according to her. They are known to harass more than motivate.

Yes, those unsolicited blowjobs from topless waitresses are a real distraction ;-)

No such thing would happen there. Though there are places like that in the world.

Well, I can do NaNoWriMo from home rather than traveling to Japan, and Starbucks is closer. Just saying.

There's something similar in the USA.
Except the coffee is free, and you get a paycheck every couple of weeks.
It's called "a job".
If you're really, really good at writing fiction, it's a job at CNN.
