New Category Suggestion

One thing I have been thinking about lately, and that would be at least one new category we could use.

One of them available is "Pedophilia", which incorrectly in common use has become sexual relations with anybody under the age of 18. But that is actually incorrect, as it is actually with anybody that had not yet reached puberty. Meaning anybody roughly up to the age of 11.

Then next is Ephebophilia, those in puberty. Usually between 10 and 14.

But the one I think could be added is Hebephilia. That is teens that are past puberty. 15-19, but 14 could also apply. Especially as this works both ways, unlike the "teen siren" category.

As it states here, that is a teen girl going after an adult male. But an ephebophile could be an adult male going after a teen girl, or even an adult female going after a 15 year old boy. Or in some cases, even an 18 year old teen going after a 14 year old teen.

Just food for thought.

Teen Siren was a replacement for the Lolita tag, not a general replacement for the pedophilia tag.

I know, especially as it is still there.

But it specifically states a young female after an adult male. Which excludes an adult female going after a young male, or an adult male after a young female.

Most importantly, this is NOT a psychosexual disorder, as being attracted to post-pubescent, developed human beings is normal, political and religious opinion to the contrary notwithstanding. Germany and Sweden have it right with regard to age of consent - 14 and 15 respectively - as do most other European countries.

And I never said it was. Just commenting on having it as a tag might give more variety tan simply flagging a story as "Mf" or "Fm". Not just that one of them is younger, but that itself is the attraction.

I have a friend that is a hebephile. Kind of interesting when he was in his 20s, then a bit weird when he was in his 30s and still trying to hit on 17 and 18 year old girls. Now just a bit creepy when he is in his 50s and his own daughter would fall into the "too old" category for him.

Per both my own memory and much googling, I believe the terms are flipped.

Hebephilia is roughly 10-14
(per Psychology Today, 11-14: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/hebephilia)

Ephebophilia is 15-19 (same Psychology Today reference)

Many other references agreed - e.g.:

I'd support an Ephebophilia tag. I'd be more hesitant on Hebephilia, though it's at least interesting.

Note that in all cases the categories are adult attraction to the target age group. Two 15-year-olds interested in each other are not ephebophiles.

Possible, I typed that from memory and I may have indeed reversed them. But 15 (14) through 19 is what I meant.
