site mail (on mobile)

Eddie Davidson 🚫

I don't have this problem much on the PC. When I try to use my phone to use the site mail system - hitting reply rarely works and there is always a delay in what I type appearing on the screen. I tend to type in a note app and paste it in.

I use both Chrome and Opera and frequently clean the cache and close the app/force stop the app and re-open.

Anyone else having problem/know the remedy?

Reading stories is fine but the forum and mail systems have rendering problems on iPhone. Which is surprising, as I'd have imagined it was a major user base here.

The two specific problems I had in mind were https://storiesonline.net/d/s6/t8430/forum-thread-nesting
And another I reported a year or more ago about the sent mail page is completely blank (and it still is)

Thx for all the good work. It's obviously not keeping me away :)

I made a change today that seems to fix this issue (fixed it on my iPhone). Reload one of the forum's pages to reload the stylesheet and check if the rendering issue is still there.

After much debugging I found the sucker and quashed it with extreme prejudice.

Now the sent messages are displayed properly on mobile.

A couple of years ago I started developing on the iPhone first and then test on desktop browsers.

The mail system doesn't use any javascript magic, it's strictly plain old-fashioned html, and as far as I can tell, it works smoothly.

So I don't understand why clicking a link 'rarely works', every time I click it it works. As for the delay in typing, that has to do with your phone, as again, I don't experience any of it and you're the first to report issues with the messaging as far as I can remember (at least in the last couple of years).

Have you tried force rebooting your iPhone? What version of iOS do you have?
