Deleting Chapters

Mushroom ๐Ÿšซ

I want to delete a bunch of chapters from a current story, and move them into their own story. I looked, and could not seem to find any way to "delete" chapters. The closest would be reposting the entire story, which is not quite what I want.

Repost the chapter, but use a empty document?

email the Webmaster, Lazeez, with what you want and he'll do it for you while retaining the stats as well.

Well, having the SOL God delete them did the trick. ANd had some issues with uploading the remaining chapters, but that has now worked itself out.

And it's interesting reading the flood of messages demanding to know what happened. I have always been active in interacting with my readers, and warned them a week ago that I was going to do this. And even posted 2 blogs, and still getting people wanting to know what happened. But it gives me an idea how many people are actually following it.

One thing I did learn, that DOCX is a garbage format, better to use text. And almost all of the "converters" out there are pure garbage. Better to just open and save them one at a time to TXT format.

Something I am VERY happy I did right from the beginning - one chapter per text file, one folder per book.

I do the same, other than I use an old version of DOC. There are some formatting that I would lose if I used straight TXT.

But one folder per series, one document per chapter is something I have done for decades.

Uhm, doc is even worse since it's an unreadable proprietary format. Just a few bits wrong and you can't open it anymore. I agree docx is garbage but as long as MS intentionally corrupts the open odf format there's little choice if you want to use MS Word.
(Good thing we have LibreOffice, it's great in recovering corrupted doc's that MS can't open anymore.)

That was not my choice. I recently had to upload 43 chapters, and that is a format that is accepted here in batch uploads.

There is no restriction on format when uploading more than one file vs single files.

You can zip all your files into one archive and attach that.

when you select to attach more than one file, each file field will accept any format supported. .txt, .docx, .html and .md

Thank you, did not know that. Will remember that in case I need to do something like this again.
