I am sending a story to the group. I want an invitation to have others write a sequel. I think it should be an open universe, or series. I don't know which would be correct. the way the story is written, there are at least four different ways a sequel could be written.
What I am asking about is how do I do this? Is it a series, is it a universe? How do I open it up to other authors.
1. First post it. You can create a universe and include it later.
2. Await responses, whilst you may want others to participate, that does not guarantee interest. The most successful universes didn't start out as preconceived universes, they were simply good stories with an interesting theme and a lot of potential.
3. Once you have other interested authors, then create a Universe, set it to public, or public with permission.

How would you issue the challenge, or should I call it an invitational. I have already announced that it will one or the other. I have started my own sequel already.
