RIP Rosamunde Pilcher

helmut_meukel ๐Ÿšซ

Rosamunde Pilcher, OBE, age 94, died.
More than 100 of her stories were adapted for TV by German 'ZDF'.
I never read any of her stories, viewed less than five of the TV films, because romance novels usually aren't my thing.

She was a very successfull writer.

Inspiration for those of us who only started long after our teens and twenties.

But according to Wikipedia she started writing when she was seven and was first published with 15. No novels back then, just short stories published in women's magazines.

Yes, but she was writing w-a-a-y before that.

She wrote Mills & Boon romances in her mid 20's as "Jane Fraser" and her first novel published under her own name (A Secret to Tell) was released when she was 30 or 31.
She retired at 80.

Looks like some of her books are available on Kindle: not cheap though.

What, no post-partum RIP discounts?

Maybe the big river people who manage Kindle haven't yet caught up on her passing. If we let them know, maybe they'd consider some sort of commemorative sale?

More likely that the lawyers administering her estate will want the prices raised to cash in on her temporary rise in profile...

A post-partum discount would be more appropriate after she had given birth, which I assume last occurred several decades ago, if ever.

A post-mortem discount, on the other hand, might be fitting, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

DUH! Good catch. They sound so similar, I never even stopped to question my first impulse. Sorry about that. Though, I can more easily imagine an Amazon post-partum sale than a post-morten discount ("Please enter your death certificate code in the provided field").
