The Size of cocaine?

PotomacBob

For possible use in a future story, if a girl is offered a kilo of cocaine, how big is that? I'm not looking for conversion to pounds, I'm looking for the physical size. Would a kilo of cocaine be the size of a brick? A concrete block? The size of a boulder?

Depends on the brick, but definitely not a concrete block or boulder.

To interpret the above link, 1 litre is 10*10*10cm, same as 5*10*20cm or roughly 2*4*8inches. This would weigh 1.2kg, and scaling for 1kg (and the cm-inch approximation) would give a brick (of compressed cocaine) 2*4*6.35 inches - quite a bit smaller than a house brick. It could be a 3*5 inch (file card size) block 3.4 in. tall.

1 kilo (kilogram, 2.2 pounds) of cocaine (compressed) would be about 4 inches by 8 inches by 1.5 inches thick or 48 cubic inches, an inch longer than a large paperback book.

the only time I saw a bag of real cocaine it was said to be a kilo and it looked to be the same size as a kilo of sugar - but I was several feet from it so it may have been slightly larger or smaller. I had to take their word for it's weight and contents when it was put on display.

Still, it's typically difficult to hide in your shirt/blouse without it being fairly obvious to casual observation. It's also heavy enough that it's not easy to carry casually (i.e. you really need to 'hold on' to it).

And a 'brick' of cocaine is much heavier than the same size brick of grass.

What, the cops didn't allow you to perform a 'taste test' on the qualify of the product during their press conference about their 'take-down' of a low-level drug 'lord'? 'D

Umm... where in my comment did you see anything about hiding it by any means?
I'd ask where in the OP grass was being discussed as well?
