That happens with surprising regularity here. While most professional authors are 'forced' to retire when they're no longer able to keep up with the demands or actively promoting their books, SOL authors keep pumping out stories, even as their health declines.
So don't think of it as 'that story will never be finished', instead think of it as 'We got to read a LOT more of his stories, because he was able to keep writing, despite his declining health.'
I've said it before, despite the scurge of the dreaded yellow stripe, some of the site's better stories were never finish, but we can still enjoy the story that was told.
Sometimes, life just interferes with fictional worlds.
