I'd posted a message on this board about a potential commission but i think the post has now been removed - is such a post contrary to forum rules?

I will own up to sending a message to the webmaster asking if your post did breach any of the site rules.
It is not so much forum rules that may have been a problem, but introducing an external commercial aspect.
My guess is it does. There was nothing personal in what I did. There are good reasons for the site to exclude certain things, even if they may appear quite innocuous.
If you logout then log back in you may find a message from the webmaster.
With anything of a private commercial nature, or in doubt about something, the best thing is to use the webmaster link near the top right corner of the home page and explain it to Lazeez direct. He'll give a clear answer, and he's very helpful - however, he's had some people try an end run on him in the past, so it's best to talk with him at the start of anything odd.
Well put, EB.
It occurred to me after making my post I should mention something like that.
To Steve, Lazeez is a very approachable human being, but the site must be run as a business. In the long run that protects us all.
you should now feel informed, not chastised.
I second that. That's why I included the words 'appear quite innocuous' in my first reply.
That was one of those things in a grey area. It's not against the rules, but it's one of those things that can potentially have a negative effect in the long run.
I left it up for 12 hours to give it a chance just in case somebody wanted to take you up on the offer, and since there was no response during that time (during which I received multiple reports about it) I took it down.
